The Science Of Soul

In Matador suits: The Delfonics
Thanks for stopping by this weeks edition of the Science Of Soul, all the Christmas albums are starting to appear again ...is it really that time, where did the year go, lol. I might do a one hour selection of festive music in December because there really is some nice stuff....let me know your thoughts because it's easy to reach me: bill.randle@thebridgeradio.net or just hit me on FB, any suggestions for the list I'll try to include.

I was pleased to see the latest edition of Unsung featured The Delfonics, you forget sometimes how much great music these guys made over the years, they really were one of Philly's first first super successful vocal groups and sometimes that fact is over looked, all we need now is a The Dramatics edition..... that's one edition long over due.
Algebra

On this weeks show we have new music from Algebra, the album Recovery was pointed out to me by my good friend Steve Williams at ukvibe.org, as was the Neo Experience track Human, my thanks goes out to to Steve and remember, I don't chance to hear everything!, so if I miss something don't be shy... just let me know!
Keith Martin

There's a few odd ball things in this weeks show from Sid the Kid to Keith Martin, who were both new to me and I had no time to research much on either of them (if Mickey knows anything I'm sure he will add it to the Blog,) [Marin is a US R&B singer with 10 albums since 1995, who now lives in the Philippines - Ed] Oh, and by the way pay attention to the track by Heatwave because the late Johnny Wilder truly was an amazing vocalist I would include him up there with the best of them. [Talking of great live singers check Lalah Hathaway at the base of this page - Ed]

Ok on with the show and thanks to all the people who sent messages of celebration on the first anniversary of The Science Of Soul. Sit back enjoy and remember to share with a friend... [Bridge readers click 4 Podcast]

Reheem Devaughn

Thanks for all the great feed back from last weeks Soul Train Special, the credit goes to Carmen who wrote the revue and Mickey for putting it all together...but playing music was fun part.

I've made it through the first year and thanks to all the artists and record companies that have been a major help, and to all the listeners who have helped spread our link and share the soul I thank each one of you for being part of the family. I look forward to another year. I also have to thank 102.5 The Bridge for there faith in the show which is quite hard to define in terms of programming and a BIG shout out to my brother Heavy D aka Melvin Jordan at Legend107 in Tampa Bay, Florida, I'm very proud to be a part of such distinguished group of soul brothers, thanks for inviting me on board and promoting the show as you do.

Devaughn
Today I'll feature the latest set this week from Raheem Devaughn,  Journey To A Place Called Loveland,  it came out in September but I only just had a chance to include it in the show, though I did play one track on it's release back in September, hope you enjoy the tracks in todays show.

Leela James
Got new music from Ms Leela James this week and  it features the wonderful Anthony Hamilton, taken from her forth coming set due out in early 2014. If you, by any chance like Will Downing, check out Brian Christopher, got a recent release from him in this weeks show also. Its the usual mix of classic and new soul that seems to confuse some people?, but you know what....SOUL is SOUL, no matter when it's recorded and that is the Science Of Soul, Sit back relax and enjoy...I say it every week remember to give the gift of music and share with a friend..

Raheem Devaughn Biography:

The son of jazz cellist Abdul Wadud, Maryland-based R&B vocalist Raheem DeVaughn kicked his career into gear after initiating a series of independent releases, aided in part by the cash reward earned from winning a talent contest. Jive became interested, signed him, and released The Love Experience in June 2005. The album peaked within the Top 50 of the Billboard 200 album chart, with the singles "You" and "Guess Who Loves You More" regularly spun on some of the more adventurous R&B stations across the U.S. Love Behind the Melody followed in January 2008. Its first single, "Woman," was his biggest hit yet and was nominated for a 2008 Grammy in the category of Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. A year later, "Customer" was nominated for Best R&B Song. Led by the late-2009 single "Bulletproof," featuring Ludacris, DeVaughn's The Love & War MasterPeace -- featuring much more socially conscious material than the average contemporary R&B release -- surfaced in March 2010, debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200, and received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. DeVaughn went independent for his fourth album, A Place Called Love Land, which was released in September 2013. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi

The Science Of Soul

Thanks For Checking out the first Science Of Soul for a fresh November month, and yes, we're coming up to the first anniversary of the Show, wow, a year as just flown by!  So much wonderful music to share,  hardly scratched the surface, continuing to mix the classic with new, not supporting the new artists as well all the people we grew up listening to, we'll will lose a very important part music growth, my aim is to support and share.

New music this week from Prince, love him or hate him, you can't deny his talent, a man who makes the lines of music very blurred, but when he's funky, this man really throws it down. Also listen out for Tomi Bell, a lady with big things to come, I think. Greg Watson was a new name to me, but seems he as been around awhile and the new album is smokin', also thanks to Steve Williams at the UK Vibe, for bringing it to my attention. Please don't be shy if there's something you think I need to hear, just let me know you can email me or hit on Face book.

I'll be doing a Soul Train special, maybe next week to celebrate these wonderful cruise's that are happening in the States, really need to go, lol. One of our regulars listeners Carmen from Australia has kindly provided photo's and a revue of her recent trip and the artist line-up was amazing, I'll give you all the details of how to book with the next one next week. So on with this weeks music remember to share the link with friends, music is a beautiful gift to give..
