Welcome to this weeks Science of Soul, my apologizes if you tried to reach me in the Studio during the Show but occasionally I have to pre-record the odd one, due to other commitments, on this occasion it's the Northern Soul Survivors Weekend in Skegness, so I am sure you will forgive me. There's a great line up of classic soul acts including; The Contours, The Velvelettes, Kim Weston and Prince Phillip Mitchell, so I could not miss this one.
RIP - Ben Causey
I am saving the new music for the next live show but could not resist playing the new single from Angie Stone...she is sounding great I cant wait for the album.

Sad news this week is that founding member of the legendary Bar Kays' Ben Cauley has passed away aged 67, Ben was the sole survivor of the plane crash that took the life of Otis Redding and four of the other Bar-Kays members at that time, he continued to keep the soul flag flying .. he will be missed.

Detroit is in bankruptcy, but once upon a time, Detroit was the heart of the American Dream. Good jobs, big cars, and the world's most profitable companies placed the city at the heart of the global economy. But as this empire of cars began to crumble and the jobs evaporated, Detroit became the crime capital of America, and a new business, illegal drugs, took over the economy. Now the city lies in shambles: Detroit is the poorest and most violent major city in America. The heart of the American Dream has been shattered. From corrupt narcotics cop Henry Marzett to the infamous Young Boys Inc, White Boy Rick, and the Best Friends Murder for Hire gang: see the Kingpins and Killers that called Detroit home and became the Henry Fords and Lee Iacoccas of a new generation. What happens when the Ceo's and Politicians fail in their plans? It's called DETROIT.

Born in 1986 in Martinsville, Virginia, R’mone Entonio began singing at the age of 5 alongside his father in an all-male gospel quartet group. This is the foundation where R’mone’s passion & love for music developed & would continue to evolve. Constantly being influenced by the records & cassette tapes played by his parents, the radio, etc., R’mone musical influences range from Lalah Hathaway, Eric Benet and D’Angelo to Stevie Wonder, The Gap Band & The Beatles. After high school, R’mone went on to study music at Virginia State University for 2 years, where his increased upon his craft by majoring in vocal concentration. There, he absorbed the classical foundation & vocal technics that would in the near future take him far. After relocating to North Carolina post-college, R’mone has went on to accompany some very influential artist of North Carolina region such as World Renowed Poet Josephus Thompson, International Performing Artist Vanessa Ferguson, World Renowned Singer/Performer Sybil & National Performing Arist Tanya Ross, just to name a few. All of these experiences have helped R’mone to step in his own artistry & brand, the R’mone Entonio Brand. Footage of R’mone’s cover work of songs performed live can be found on YouTube. As this young artist continues to emerge, stay tuned for R’mone’s original material, which will be available in the fall of 2015.
