First off, let me say thanks to everyone for there kind words about last weeks unplanned Old School Special, I'm glad you enjoyed it, lol. This week I have a lot of the new music I'd planned for last week including; Tony Tatum and Ves, (who are completely new names to me), plus the latest releases from Jae B, Jeffree Charles and a man who is somewhat a quiet legend having sung with Damon Harris The Miracles and countless other Detroit acts, that's Mr Tee Turner. Tee is stepping out front with his new single "Friends" that's a very nice mid tempo groove quality vocals just everything you would expect from a man of his experience. I do think you'll enjoy it as much as I have. New music from the legendary Bobby Taylor ..... yes I did say BOBBY TAYLOR, Bobby has cut a version of The Temptation's classic "Soul to Soul" and it was recorded - in of all places - China! .... Its a Science of Soul firs,t a Chinese Soul record, lol ... only Bobby Taylor could do this, he is truly one the most amazing men I have ever met, sooooooo many memories.
Tee Turner
My Brother from another Mother, Charles Davis, has to endure hip replacement surgery this coming week, after spending over 30 years with The Contours. Charles decided to concentrate on his solo work and performing with The Shades of Blue all over the States. I am sure this will only slow him down for a minute. Charles and his lovely wife Rose are family to me, and we go back longer than either of us care to remember, so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers this coming week.
Music time .... enjoy!

Gospel touch this week belongs to Reverend Clinton Colementhat's called "Write Up To Heaven," it's been lifted from his Album "Better Get Justified," he's based in Las Vegas and is the cousin of Prince Phillip Mitchell so he comes from good stock.

‘G’ Era is the current name of the group formerly known as Bernard Gibson & Liv-N-Proof. The origins of the group began in early 1974 with Bernard Gibson along with his brothers Arthur, Willie and their brother in law Anthony Pilgrim who together with Lucien Thompson formed the group, The Expo’s, who recorded a solitary 45 entitled “Your Best Friend And Me” for the tiny Stall label . Extending their name to ‘The Exportations” they went on to record the acclaimed album for the United Artists label “Meet The Exportations” which the successful lead 45 “Strange Sensations” was taken from.
As the Exportations they would go on to record two desirable 45’s for the local Detroit label Vir-ro “I Want You/Find Another Day” in 1980 followed a year later by “You Did It/Easy Come Easy Go” both of which went on to find favour with the UK modern soul scene and beyond. As the Exportations they also recorded the disco influenced 12” single “Party Down” in 1982. The group’s earliest use of the name Liv-N- Proof came when the recorded “You And I” for the Ju-Par label during 1977. (more at Soul Junction)
It's Science of Soul time once again and this weeks featured album comes from last year, Groove Association, I missed it back then and have just been waiting to share it with you, 3AM is the album title, I know some of you will already know it so treat the feature as a reminder of how good it is ... lol.
It's just been confirmed Prince Phillip Mitchell will be back in the UK this September so I'm looking forward to that! Mickey has made available again the interview I recorded with Elgins lead singer, the late Saundra Edwards, that's due to demand and yes, be getting to the Sylvia Moy and Louvain Demps of the Andantes as soon as we can, thanks go out to Mickey for all his hard work in maintaining the Science of Soul Site.
New music this week from Adrena, she's a young lady who grows in stature with each new release. I am also enjoying John Carey's "Soul Avenue" album, so I have included another track from that set. Currently raising a storm Stateside is the track: "Hell 2 Da Naw Naw" by Bishop Bullwinkle, to say its something different is an understatement, add-in the latest hit from Dee Robinson, and a new artist to me Rabbit, who's single "Love For The Ghetto" delivers a powerful message. That's it 'music time', sit back and enjoy, and please phone a friend ..

After leaving Second Image in the late 80's, Georgie B continued to work tirelessly within the music industry, working and sharing the stage with many distinguished artists such as Womack & Womack, Jean Carne, MAZE (featuring Frankie Beverly), Reel 2 Reel, Phil Fearon, The Weather Girls, Rod Temperton (writer of the Michael Jackson classics 'Thriller' & 'Rock With You'), Paul Weller, Shut up & Dance (co-writing & singing tracks on their ‘Black Men United’ album), Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson, Winston Reedy and many more. Plus a plethora of live and studio session gigs/performances around the globe.
In April 2011, Georgie B was invited to sing (with Second Image) at the 02 Theatre in London, as part of the 30 YEAR CELEBRATION OF BRIT FUNK. Thanks for checking this weeks Science of Soul website, as I mentioned on last weeks show I am loving the new CD from Carmichael Musiclover"Love Souljah" so I thought this week we would dig a little deeper, I think you will enjoy. Talking of great new albums I have just received the latest set from John Carey"Soul Avenue", wow this man keeps busy, having just released his wife Gina's new album "Can You Dig It", they are riding pretty high right now, included "Old School" from the album and rest assured more will follow.
Hot off the press to with music from; Winfree, Frank McKinney and Jill Scott. Listen out for the great new remix of Lenny Williams' current hit "Hooked On You" very very nice mixed by Nigel Lowis who is doing some great work at the moment.
As most of you will be aware The Science of Soul is syndicated to Legend 107 radio in the States and it's great news that I'm hearing that station is continuing to expand with a FM licence having been granted and will be known as Legend Radio Network, well done to Melvin Jordan who tirelessly works so hard to move the station forward, I am very proud to have been part of the Legend team for quite awhile now and It will continue to be that way.

Carmichael Musiclover
Growing up in the South, Carmichael woke up every morning to his parents playing some of the great Soul artists like Al Green and Maze and Frankie Beverly. The influence of these amazing artists has contributed to the smooth sounds and empowering lyrics that have come to be known as Carmichael's signature style, "Grown Folks Lullabies."
The music industry stood up and took notice of Carmichael in 1994, with a major record deal with Manuel Seal of So So Def. His next break came in 2001 when his compilation was selected for the soundtrack for the movie Big Ain't Bad, featuring the singles "You Need a Man" and "Always." Carmichael followed that with the release of two albums, back to back; First in 2003 with the album entitled "Cool and Sexy," then in 2004 with "You Can't Break Me."
Carmichael writes and produces his own songs and became recognized and sought after for his talent as a songwriter. In 2006 he was selected as a writer for The Tony Rich Project with La Face Records.
Carmichael was catapulted to International recording artist status with the release of his third album, "All About Love" in 2007. He began performing across the United States and overseas in London, Italy, Japan and Germany. "All About Love" reached #8 on London's R&B charts, and #2 on the Underground RnB charts in Japan, according to Black Music Review, leading to the album's re-release in 2008.
The first double CD project for Carmichael, entitled "Fantasy/Rain" was released in 2010. "Fantasy/Rain" topped the Japanese Underground R&B charts at #2, according to Black Music Review.
In 2010, Carmichael was honored with the awards for Steppin' Music Artist of the Year and the People's Choice Song of the Year for "Rock It" from the "All About Love" album.
Record deals, soundtracks, back to back album releases, writing, chart topping, international acclaim and award winning music all meant to Carmichael that the people were embracing his gift of music. That is the fantasy come true for the Southern kid who relentlessly pursued his dream.
The latest album, "Pot of Gold,” represents the most mature and powerful offering from Carmichael MusicLover thus far, infused with the signature style listeners have come to depend on. (cdbaby)
