Our good friends down in Houston Texas, at Moulton Records keep turning out a steady supply of great soul music, Choppa Law's new release is no exception. Choppa is something of a legend in Texas and it's not hard to see why; great vocals and solid arrangements. Thanks to my good friend and soul brother Lee McDonald for keeping us up to date with the Texas soul scene.
Eric Nolan Grant, one third of the legendary O'Jays had a solo outing that came out towards the end of last year on his own label Wonder Boy label, it's a great track one for the steppers I'm sure it's gonna fill the dance floors and look for good things from this label. Hmmm... got me thinking .... 'bout time we had a new O'Jays album?
Our featured artist this week is a Saint Louis Missouri resident, Wendell Brown. This a man with soul history and an enviable back catalog and his new CD Get To Know Me is just great from first note to the last, I can't recommend this album highly enough. It was hard to select three tracks to play, I could have played the whole thing. In fact over the coming weeks I most likely will. Miss this show at your peril, it's a future classic also be sure to check out Wendell's own web site.
Our Facebook family continues to grow, people from all around the world, its just amazing to me that so many take time to listen and contact me, I often point out to people that The Science of Soul is not just my show it belongs to all of us because its a reflection of our love of the music. I get so much help and encouragement for this show it's amazing, the work Mickey does in taking care of the web site is invaluable, the messages and music sent from artists and listeners makes it a joy and privilege to present the show. So I thought it would be nice to give everyone a chance to take part. From now on I'm going to do a weekly 'listeners spot' where one listener can pick three of there favorite soul tunes from any era and I'll play them on the show, all you need to do is; tell me a little about yourself, pick your three tracks and the rest if for me. You can reach me at bill.randle@thebridgeradio.net .
This weeks selection comes from my Japanese soul brother Yozi Harada, this man's passion for soul music is second to none, thanks Yozi for taking part.
All that's left to say is sit back and enjoy the music... (Bridge FM readers click here for Podcast)

Wendel B's Biography:
St. Louis is where the blues travels throughout the city and where the sounds of R&B sensation Wendell B are taking the world by storm. Now CEO and President of his own music label, Smoothway Music, St. Louis is very proud of this homegrown balladeer.
First we had a good time with Wendell’s debut CD “Good Times”, which has received rave reviews from all over the world. Next was the follow-up smash CD, “Time to Relax: Love, Life, & Relationships” in which Wendell is simply telling the truth. Then as Christmas fell upon us, he blessed us all with a smooth R&B Christmas CD entitled “Save A Little Room for Me: I’m Coming Home for Christmas.” Now that it’s a new year and time to refresh his fans’ minds, Wendell says it’s simply time to get back to business with his brand new CD entitled “Back Ta Bid’ness”.
Being compared to his idols, Freddie Jackson, Luther Vandross, Barry White, Will Downing, and one of his favorite artist, Joe, this laid back entertainer’s love affair with music began at a very young age. Wendell made his foray into the music industry at the age of five by joining the gospel group the Sensational Wonders. He spent a good ten years singing for the Lord before his vocal tastes were whetted by the sounds of rhythm and blues. “At first I had to hide my interest of R&B music from my Mom because she was into the church and she didn’t play that”, he laughs. As Wendell reached maturity, both in years and vocal ability, he began performing with local groups such as the Dream, a group that he formed in high school, and Visions. While touring in his hometown and surrounding areas, it was then that he really learned the importance of stage presence through the tutelage of local legends Marvin Rice, lead vocalist for Masters Touch, and Carl Holmes, lead vocalist of Visions, who schooled him in perfecting runs and other vocal techniques.
The decision to go solo, after having spent two decades in groups, was based upon his desire to follow in the entrepreneurial footsteps of others in the industry. Wendell left St. Louis in an effort to search for his heart’s desire, his love for music. He spent several years in Minneapolis, Stopping in several other cities along the way, Wendell landed in Atlanta, GA where the music scene began to take off for him.
