Mr Bobby Finch
Wow .. that's the first month of 2017 gone time sure does fly, but thankfully great music still keeps coming. We have a sneak preview of Ty Causey's forthcoming project "TyAngles" due for release in early spring, the first single pulled from the album is a melodic slice of Soul/Jazz with a touch of Funk (checkout the add for the album @ the side of this page) I think you will like it. Detroit Soulman Bobby Helmz returns with a great new single "That Ain't Serious" and a new name to me William "Kooly" Scott has a killer remake of the Jeffery Osborne classic "Love Ballad" thanks to Garry Williams who incidentally presents a great show on Overseas FM Radio for bringing this to my attention, representing the ladies is the lovely Jureesa McBride her new release is a classic Southern Soul story "Single Husband".

Featured artist this week is Los Angeles based singer songwriter H'Atina her EP "Like A Butterfly" is set for imminent release if your a fan of the NeoSoul ladies this is gonna be right in your bag. My special bonus video is Brenda Perryman's excellent Detroit TV show and her guest on this edition is none other than the Detroit Soul ambassador Melvin Davis who can only be described as a living legend I loved this show it really gives you a glimpse of Melvin's warm personality he is truly one of the good guys.OK it's music time so sit back and enjoy and thank you for your continued support.

H'Atina info
This album is the first edition EP that describes the past 15 years of my life…the good, the bad, the sad, and the renewed. From new found love and commitment to deceit, heartache, and healing. Embracing new beginnings and realizing it’s never too late to start over, to begin again. During this journey in my life and music exploration, I received so much clarity. So, now I’m taking my time in life and in love. My music is always personal and I believe when you hear me sing and listen to my lyrics you will see ME. You will understand ME. You will embrace ME. Because I am human, like YOU. The best way for me to truly express myself is through music. This is ME...from happy to vulnerable to strong and unbreakable, and at peace, I share ALL of ME in my music, with a hint of jazz, neo-soul and R&B. Find me on Facebook

Edwin Starr

Now out on Soul Junction SJ 1007+ Inst
Welcome to this edition of the Science of Soul, pay attention this week to the new release by the Texas soul lady K. Avett, her new single "The Matter (What Are We Here For)" is very special, due for February release I think this is gonna take off so spread the word. Making there Science of Soul debut this week are the ThunderSOUL Orchestra originally from Houston, Texas, these guys are the real deal taking FUNK around the world.I have pulled a track from there album "528 - 0728" highly recommended. The consistently good Cardell is back with a new single aimed squarely at the steppers who can't seem to get enough of this guy .. not hard to see why "Is It Real" will not disappoint. Soul Junction records are just about to issue a single by Robert Montgomery & Chain Reaction "I Need You Girl," I must confess I didn't know this track at all, recorded in 1976 only a thousand copies were produced, and it quickly sank without trace, so it's nice to see it get a reissue, so get it while you can, it's being issued as a 7 inch single and again only a limited number of copies will be available.

Edwin's son receives an award for Dad

Edwin Starr biography:
Edwin Starr was born Charles Hatcher in Nashville, TN, on January 21, 1942. He grew up in Cleveland and formed a doo wop quintet called the FutureTones while still in high school. They won numerous local talent competitions and even recorded a single for a small label, but Starr was drafted into the military in 1960, stalling the group's momentum. When he returned in 1962, he tried to get things going again, but to no avail; instead, he wound up joining Bill Doggett's group as a featured vocalist in 1963. Two years later, Starr wrote what he felt was a surefire hit in the spy-themed "Agent Double-O-Soul," and left Doggett's band to sign with Ric Tic Records and settle in Detroit. "Agent Double-O-Soul" hit the R&B Top Ten later in 1965, and just missed the pop Top 20. Starr capitalized on the song's novelty appeal by appearing on-stage in a spy costume complete with toy gun, but proved he was no one-trick pony by returning to the Top Ten a year later with "Stop Her on Sight (S.O.S.)."
