Greg Watson

Welcome to this weeks Science of Soul, it's to be the last 'live on air' show from myself for 3 weeks, so if you normally listen live Sundays and message me, I am not being rude if I don't message back instantly as I always do, but I will get back to you. If you normally use the Podcast option like here you will notice no difference.

Bunny's back!
The Featured Artist this week is Greg Watson. My thanks go to my dear friend Iona Alexander McClinton for sending Greg's music and doing a great job promoting him. Other new music this week was from Philly legend Bunny Sigler, and the lovely Ms Gina Carey has a new single release for you. There was good news in that Vick Allen is back with a new release too - looking forward to his new album. New names to me are The Superior Band ft Rebekah this a nice little happy go lucky groove that really grows on you the more you hear it.

You might remember months ago I featured a new release from Rashaad Carlton .. well it's turned into a sizable hit Stateside, so much so he is now known as just Rashaad, so I thought I would remind how good the track was ..... Oh did I mention I got some REAL old school classics from Tommy Hunt, Jimmy Scott and Sonny Turner too! ... It's just how we roll on The Science of Soul, so remember to tell a friend to tell another friend.

Greg Watson biography:

Singer and songwriter Greg Watson is making a name for himself on the Houston R&B music scene. Greg, who describes himself as a crooner with soul ended 2009 with a bang. He opened for musical stars Jeffrey Osborne and Stephanie Mills in the Arena in Houston Texas. He has recently released his first CD, titled, "This Time". It features two songs that have already been well received, "This Time" and "Craving Your Body". Greg's new CD will no doubt increase his fast-growing fan base. In addition to his regular live performances at various Houston venues, He continues to open for such well-known names as Bobby Bland, Regina Bell, Lejit, Glenn Jones and others.

Greg has long admired the singing styles of such stars as Peabo Bryson, Teddy Pendergrass and the late Donny Hathaway, and now Anthony Hamilton, Brian McKnight, Johnny Guill, ect. He is also a Jeffrey Osborne fan, and was honored to open for him at Houston’s Arena Theatre.

Greg was also blessed to open for Mel Waiters, Bobby Bland, Regina Bell and several other “Unknown to me,” Greg said, “people who heard me sing at different places were talking to those involved with the promotion of the Stephanie Mills and Jeffrey Osborne concert. They felt that I sounded a little like Jeffrey and asked that I be given a chance. I lived out a dream opening up for two of my favorite singers. That alone is a blessing.” (more here)

Eddie Levert

On this weeks Science of Soul I will pay tribute to Earth Wind & Fire's late founding member and driving force Maurice White, White helped to bring a whole new sound to the Windy City and made EWF one of the hottest bands on the planet. Much has been written about already about him and his music legacy that will last for generations to come ... a job well done -  he will be missed.

Featured Album this week comes from an American treasure Mr Eddie Levert, the title track "Did I Make You Go Ooh" as been around a few months now and just gets better every time you hear it. I love Eddie but there are one or two tracks that don't float my boat but by and large it's a solid album. My thanks go to DJ Mark Merry for getting the album to me, I owe you one Mark.

Had to include a Millie Jackson classic after seeing her great show last weekend .. was hard to pick a highlight from such a great set.
Have to shout out to Mickey for getting last weeks show on to pod cast in my absence ... what would I do without him.
Ok it's music time sit back and enjoy.
