Zalon

Melvin Jordan
Welcome to the Science of Soul, Its good to be back after my 3 week trip. Featured Artist this week is London Soul man Zalon former background singer for the late Amy Winehouse, his new album is nothing like you would expect from a man with his background "Liquid Sonic Sex Vol 1" is smooth as silk if it gets some promotion stateside it could be a career making set I am already anxiously awaiting Vol 2. There is also new music from New York blues and Soul man Danny Keen his latest EP "Here It Is" gives you a great insight to his style, Gotta thank my man Melvin Jordan on the Legend Radio Network for turning me on to this.

Eric Nolan Grant who as I am sure you know is one third of the O'Jays as an album about to drop and the lead single from it is "#OMY" Eric as a style all of his own and rather just trying to recreate The O'Jays sound he brings something new to the table. There are a few recent releases from the like of Mo B, Joe Tex II, ConFunkShun all mixed in with the old school classics so there's a little something for everyone. Zalon biography:

Zalon and his brother Heshima, then aged 16 and 20, began touring the UK live circuit with the American soul singer Freddie Lee as part of his production shows in 2003. Zalon has attributed his performance technique to these years of live performance with Freddie Lee. A few years later, promoter Patrick Alan approached Zalon to sing backing vocals and duets with his guests at his regular Monday night spot at the 10 Rooms, and through this Zalon met Amy Winehouse.

Amy asked Zalon to tour with her for her Back to Black album which was only scheduled to last for 3 months, but the tour was so successful they ended up touring for a further three years, and collected five Grammy Awards. Zalon went on to feature on the deluxe version of the platinum selling album, and I Told You I Was Trouble DVD, with the songs "Hey Little Rich Girl", "Monkey Man" and "You're Wondering Now". He also sang backing vocals on Winehouse's track "He Can Only Hold Her" which appeared on Back to Black and the BBC Radio One session, "Cupid". (info Wiki)
